This policy explains how GoUpWP stores or accesses information on your device. We use cookies that are necessary to provide the website and services you request, and — only if you accept them — Google Analytics cookies that help us understand which guides and plugins are useful. We do not use advertising cookies.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
goupwp-session | Keeps you signed in, preserves checkout/account state and helps secure the service. | About 2 hours of inactivity by default; the browser may retain it until its expiry. |
XSRF-TOKEN | Helps us confirm that forms and account actions came from the person using the site. | Normally aligned with the active session. |
goupwp_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies so we do not ask again. | 12 months. |
Analytics cookies (optional, only with your consent)
We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) to measure how visitors use GoUpWP: which pages and guides are read, which plugins are viewed, and whether checkouts complete. Until you choose Accept analytics, Google Analytics runs in a consent-restricted mode that sets no cookies and sends only aggregated, cookieless signals. If you accept, the cookies below are set. IP addresses are not logged or stored by Google Analytics 4. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.
| Cookie | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes visitors with a random identifier. | 2 years. |
_ga_* | Keeps the state of the current visit for the GoUpWP Google Analytics property. | 2 years. |
Google's own notice explains how it handles this data: How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Essential cookies and consent
UK rules allow storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user. The session and security cookies above support authentication, forms and checkout, so they are not optional and no consent is sought for them. Blocking them in your browser may prevent sign-in, checkout or account features from working. Analytics cookies are optional: refusing them is as easy as accepting them, and either choice can be changed later.
PayPal and external links
When you choose to continue to PayPal, you leave GoUpWP and PayPal may set its own cookies under its policies. Links to other websites work in the same way. GoUpWP does not control cookies placed on those separate services.
Future changes
If we introduce personalisation or marketing technologies that are not strictly necessary, we will explain them here and obtain any consent required before they are used.
